Aladdin

Last night Drew and I watched Aladdin. Neither of us have seen the movie in years and years. The movie brought back a lot of memories. It was such a nostalgic movie.

Aladdin came out in 1992 and so that would have made me 10 years old. I remember going to the Vernon Town Theater before there was a big famous players multi-plex.
I for some reason only remember going with Greg and my dad. However I bet my mom was there too since it doesn't seem like it was something dad would have done.

I think dad enjoyed it more then we did at the time. I remember laughing at my dad laughing at the movie. There was a part where the Genie turns into a sheep and says something along the line of "you baaaaad boy" or something sheepy like that and my dad was in hysterics. I remember looking at him and thinking "this is a great movie if it makes dad laugh". And I was right. It is a great movie!

There was a part in the movie when Aladdin and Abu are on the carpet racing to safety from a big wall of lava. I was so scared that they wouldn't make it out alive. Then whoosh the carpet takes a hard downward turn and they are into safety and I remember being so happy!

I was in grade 4 when the movie came out. I practiced the duo "I can show you the world" with a friend every day at lunch. We did it in a talent show for school. And we felt like we were on top of the world. I think that my grandparents had to bring me to the talent show because my parents were working. I was so proud for singing in public. I sang Aladdin's part and a girl named Jessica did the Princesses part.

I loved the music so much that I asked my next door neighbor to teach me how to play the songs on the piano. She even taught me play them with two hands! I was in all my glory playing Aladdin on the piano and singing away.

Aladdin was such a great trip down memory lane. I think that I will have to start watching all the old movies that I used to love.
