You're "Dead, Man"

Today Drew and I went on a wonderful date. We drove up Dead mans Valley just past Savona. It was glorious.

I suggest everyone does it. There are loads of hiking trails, lakes, camping and very very remote cabins and ranches. The scenery can't be beat.

At the very end of our drive we walked to a massive waterfall. It was amazing and scary. The waterfall is very remote. No fences to keep you from falling off the cliff.

I was pretty much laying on the ground 3 feet from the edge of the cliff to take these pics. I was terrified that Drew would trip and bump me somehow and I would plummet to my death in the ever fitting Dead Mans River. I know the pictures are silly, as you can see the ground. But I hope they give some idea on how high and scary this was.

The geography kept changing every few Km's from desert to hoodoos to lush to treed to lakes to alpine. It truly was beautiful and wonderful and I am so glad we took the time to drive out there and smell the flowers. There was this part of the road that was red, like blood. It reminded me of a book that I read called "Turtle Valley" by Gail Anderson-Dargatz. The characters in the book have to travel this road called "blood road" it is also a red road.

The coolest part, besides the waterfall, was the beaver dam. We saw some chewed up logs on the way to the falls and so on the way back we decided to check it out.
We found loads of chewed up sticks and logs. And then we found the amazing and very large damn. The dammed water was over 5 feet higher then the bottom water. (pics will explain)

Look! Beaver marks!
