scooting

Today on the way to the beach I got hit from behind while on my scooter. It was a large SUV that hit me.
I think it was one of the scariest things that had ever happened up to this point. The reason it was so scary is that I felt like it was going to happen, While I was at the light at the intersection I twisted around to see if someone was going to hit me, and sure enough he did. The police say he was going approx 30-40 km an hour. I hit my handle bars hard then fell to the left side of the bike and then the bike fell over onto me.
Immediately my left side was in major pain. I was on my knees and couldn't breath. I was listening to music in my helmet and I was in shock and couldn't figure out how to turn off my ipod.
I ripped of my helmet and I could hear a bunch of voices. Tons of people saw the accident.
The first thing I wanted to do was call Drew. I looked for my phone and found that it had been launched about 30 feet away in the middle of the intersection. I crawled to it crying and ignoring everyone around. I called and left a wailing message on his machine. I then called a good friend Kenneth because he only lives one block away from where I got hit but he didn't answer either.
The fire truck was there before I could crawl back to the side walk. My side hurt so much that I couldn't sit or stand and could only kneel. the fire fighter kept my head straight while I continued to cry and out of hysteria I was more concerned about the man in the SUV that hit me. I kept asking him if he was ok, how is back was, how his bumper was. He was doing the same with me.
the police ticketed the man for driving to close to me and took my scooter and parked it in a parking lot. The back fender is gone along with the license plate and back lights. Also the frame is broken and coolant hose is broken along with other things.
The ambulance then came and put on a neck brace took me to Burnaby Hospital. Every single bump in the road hurt my side and my crying and sniffing made things worse.
Drew got a hold of me along the way, I told him what hospital I was going to and he left work and met up with me.
The doctor saw me within the first hour! I couldn't believe it. If it happened in Kamloops it would have taken 6 or 7 hours to get a doctor. I was in xray after another hour and then 30 min later found out that I cracked some ribs on the left side of my body. The doctor warned that I will be very sore for a while and told me to take it easy.
I was out of the hospital within 4 hours! It was so fast and the staff was so nice. I didn't even see a nurse.
Drew was amazing and supportive. We got one of his friends to drive us home as the doctor gave me a lot of pain killers and I was (still am) loopy.
I got home by 5pm. I couldn't make it up the stairs and had to lay down on the landing of the apartment stairs. the medication did something weird and I got pale and started to sweat and shake. Then I counted to 3 and jumped up and got up the stairs and fainted into bed.
And here I am now. Pain meds work well however anytime I adjust myself my ribs hurt.
I am so thankful that I am alive. Things could have been so much worse.
I am hoping that by tomorrow I can see what the pain will be like and if I can go to school on Monday. I am going to try my hardest to do everything without pain medication as I am not reacting well with it.
I'll lay in be for the rest of today and hopefully tomorrow will be a good day. Drew has gone to get the scooter to bring home. It wont be long until I am back in the saddle of my Ruckus
