A nice day

A couple days ago I took the dogs for a nice long hike in Lac Du Boise grass lands.
It started out really rough. You park then walk up a really steep hill. But once you get to the top the hills are nice and rolling so you don't notice the ups and downs so much.

An hour into our hike I heard flapping of wings and the dogs ran back to me and hid around my legs. I looked up and their was this huge eagle or hawk.
It wasn't a bald eagle as it has a reddish head. And under the wings was a lovely colors of red/brown. But the wing span was enormous. it was likely only 50 feet in the air and the wings looked about 5 or more feet in full span.
The bird flew along with us for a little while. I got scared and turned back because I thought it was going to eat my dogs. About 5 min of flying overhead with us it flew straight up in the air and then plummeted down to the earth. It came out of the long grass with some sort of animal and took off.
So the dogs and I turned around again and finally got the the grass meadow.
It was a heart pumping hike. But wonderful and absolutely beautiful.

I never ever have appreciated Kamloops. I actually hated Kamloops for the last 2 years that we lived here. But this summer I have found a new love for it. We spend much of the summer either at the beach at our beautiful river, or in Lac Du Boise.
