Pottery is great!

Today I grabbed my guts and decided to throw a bowl that is out of my comfort level.
I threw 2- 3.4 pound bowls!
The first bowl was a wee bit off center so one edge is thinner then the rest of the bowl.

The second bowl however turned out perfect! Perfectly centered same thickness all the way around!

I also made 2 soap dishes and 2 mugs.

My yarn bowls are being bisque fired as we speak and tomorrow will be a glazing day. I have 12 8oz bowls to glaze and 2 little saucers for dips plus the yarn bowls.

Pottery seems to be the exact outlet that I need for my stresses. Knitting and spinning are nice and soothing however I am alone when I do them. Alone means thinking about stuff.

Pottery means punching the daylights out of my clay. Then sculpting it into something beautiful. And meeting new people and getting to make nice small talk with them. Maybe someday I will make some friends?

I have also taken on the volunteer position of Maintenance Coordinator. I got tricked into doing it. I got lured into a meeting by getting excited about the craft that goes along with the meeting. But I think taking on a small roll in my studio will be my contribution to everyone at there. Plus then I feel like I have a real job!

I can't wait to start giving away my pottery! I know that a couple of my knitting friends want a yarn bowl. Electrictree, yours is being fired right now. We will need to make a date with your new son Patrick for coffee, chit chat, knitting and gift giving. Plus I really would love you meet your wee baby! Oh and is there a color you would like your bowl to be? Leave a comment on the color you would like. Sorry we don't have bright reds. But we do have a very nice breaking glaze that is red and brown.
