We Did It!

We landed our first place in Vancouver today.
And everything went smoothly.

We were having problems with landlords crapping out on us, it happened 3 times where we had the place but then didn't follow threw. But the rental dance is over!

Our new place is really great, even though I am still quite unsure of the location. I work full time In North Vancouver. Meaning that East Vancouver would be the sane place to live, just for a short drive to work. However we didn't find any place to live in East Van that was clean or allowed pets.
On Thursday I went and looked at a place in Kits. It was in a really cool area, was funky, clean. And get this....... the tenant is from Brandon!!!We have actually become friends and went out for dinner tonight and text a lot. Pretty cool eh? She even knew a friend of mine while I was living there.

Anyways, I like the apartment but again, its in kits. Not like close to east van kits, but all the way down by Jericho Beach kits. It took me 40 min to drive from work to the apartment in no traffic when I went to view it.

So today, Drew got together a bunch of viewings for apartments and I also went downtown and called about 40 other apartments to find a place to live. We looked and looked but still had this nagging feeling that Kits was where we should be. For now.

Well after viewing a 450 square foot one room bachelor suite for $1200 and some shitty other places we decided to call back Brandon girl and see if she would rent to us.

Voila. We have a new place!
* 4 short blocks the the ocean
* beside a comic book store
* gas stove and oven
* illegal cable!
* pet friendly
* free parking!!!
* lots of character
* tall ceilings
* storage
* 4 blocks to a dessert restaurant
* 4 blocks to Broadway
* best of all... we will be living on West 4th! (yes the cool street)

We are so pumped.
Also it is a place that mom and dad can visit and actually feel safe. I can even invite people over for dinner and a hockey game without being embarrassed. (unlike our last place)

We are as happy as pigs in shit.

Except I am dreading the commute to work 5 days a week. Barf

This is Drew and I on April 8th... my 29th birthday. Yes, I know I still look like I'm 19.
We spent the day at the beach walking, dinner out and lunch out. It was a pretty great day! I love my wonderful husband.
