Moved!

Well Drew and I have moved again! We moved Feb 1st to New Wesminster, BC's first capital. It is a pretty cute town. It is full of historic homes and buildings, charm and amazing sushi! It is very odd not living in Vancouver and not being within walking distance to a grocery store. However it isn't forever. Our place is a lot larger then our old place, pretty much double the size, and the rent is half the price we paid as well! It is the same vintage as our old place, around 1940's and has original hard wood. We have a view into the apartment directly behind us. that's pretty special.

I have stopped working on social services. I hate it with a passion and ended my line on Tuesday. I was going to just not work however I decided to email my resume around and see if I could get hired welding. Well I did just that! I start my first welding job on Monday! The shop is called Broadway welding. It's a little custom fabrication shop customising in all things original. I'll be mostly arc welding which is great since I'm good at it. I'm excited to learn all sorts of new things like using a brake press and tig welding.
This week we started wire welding (mig). it took me a couple days to figure it out since I was set in my ways with arc welding. But now I have excelled again! I have pretty much passed all welds that I have done within the last 2 days. I still like arc way more although mig is way easier.

Drew cannot decide what he wants to do. He has decided he wants some kind of trade, but that is as far as he has gotten. I think he needs to just jump in and do something. If he hates it then he can work until he pays off any school debt that is incurred and start again. I'm trying to talk him into welding. He can shadow a student for the day to help make up his mind. And the cool thing is, I would be the one he shadows. Every couple weeks I have someone shadow me welding for the day.
Today I had a guy shadow me all day. He was a banker, and like me he has grown to hate serving and helping people. After his day today he has decided to come into the welding program! he is going to come back and shadow me when we are welding aluminum. It's funny to hear all the stories about why people are becoming welders. And the most common thing (beside the money) is that they are sick of serving people. I think its cool that more people are leaving the service industry to come into the blue collar industry!

Anyways, we need a brake job in the element. Anyone know of a good cheap shop to take it to? Drew and I both got new glasses! I got mine last week and Drew is still waiting. His should be here next week. I'll make sure to post some pictures of my handsome man.
